Hi! We finally decided to start a BLOG for the Larkin household. We have a lot of new and exciting things happening in our life and we want to be able to share them with friends and family!
First of all, Jim and I have been married for a year and a half! Wow, time flies. We have been living in Houston for a year now. Isn't that crazy? We cannot believe it. We both love our jobs, Jim is a Petroleum Engineer and Iam a project coordinator. The most important thing that has made Houston a great place to live is our church, Houston's First Baptist. Gregg Matte, who was instumental in the amazing success of Breakway Ministries at Texas A&M. We have gotten involved in the newlywed class this past year, which has really allowed us to form some AWESOME friendships and strengthen our marriage even more through Christ. It is such a blessing to learn from other couples and fellowship together. The leaders of our class have been such an encouragment and example to us. This is definitely the number one reason we LOVE Houston.
Currently we are living downtown in a 1 bedroom apartment. It is the perfect location because we can jump on any highway and pretty much get anywhere in 20 mins! Jim is also only 1 mile from work, which is pretty cool. We have gotten to the point, though, with family visiting, and siblings growing up that you want a HOUSE where we can entertain. Also throwing away rent every month gets old after awhile. Soooooooooooo.... we are BUYING A HOUSE! We decided not to live in the suburbs one, because we got used to the CITY and two, the commute for Jim would be HORRIBLE. Therefore, we decided to look in the Spring Branch area. We found the perfect first house. It is in a "transitional" area, where there are $400k-$1 million houses a few blocks away and we are hoping that the trend moves towards us! It was built in 1950, BUT was totally redone inside in late 2007! We will not have to do one thing except add a few Larkin touches. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and covers about 1900 sq ft. We are super excited and look forward to closing July 2!
