Jim's Mom came to Houston!

About 2 weeks ago, Jim's mom, Verla, was able to come and visit us for 4 days! She has been needing a getaway trip to relax, so Jim's dad and him worked up a trip to Houston for her. They surprised her and told her the week before she left so she could prepare. It was so cute they had the whole week planned with surprises!

Jim picked her up Wednesday evening from the airport. We visited over dinner and showed her around the house. The first surprise was new PJs enclosed with a sweet message for her. They were so soft! Then starting Wednesday evening and every other night she had sweet cards and letters to open from loved ones.

Thursday she slept in and I picked her up at lunch for the next surprise, a SPA day! She had a 6 hour day at the spa which included a manicure, pedicure, lunch, massage and facial. It was a very relaxing time for her. After work I picked her up and we headed to meet Jim for a delicious dinner at one of our favorite authentic mexican food places, Tilas.

Friday she got to sleep in again then spend Jim took a half day to spend quality time with her. The plan was to hang out and have an evening at home BUT as soon as I got home after work, the AC was out again. WHAT?!? Jim and I were freaking out! We had our AC guy rush out long story short, the transformer in our back yard blew! It was going to take the city 6-8 hours to get the power back on. We decided to get dressed and go have a dinner in the AC at Outback then we ran by Starbucks. When we got home about 10ish it was back on!

Saturday was so fun! We woke up about 10ish and got ready for Verla's next surprise. She was clueless. His dad called ahead at Coldwater Creek, one of her favorite stores, and had a gift card all set up for her. We shopped for 3 hours with success! She loved her new clothes. After a tiring day of shopping we went back relaxed and had a home cooked meal.

Sunday was our last day. We were not looking forward to the soon good bye. Verla got to come to church with us and see why we love Houston so much! After church we went to Cheesecake Factory for brunch. YUMMY!!! Verla had the best Chocolate Chip Belgium waffle! We then headed to the airport and said bye. But not for too long.. her and Sr. Jim get to come back in October for Jimmys birthday!

We had the BEST TIME with Verla. Thank you for coming, it meant so much to the both of us. You are so wonderful to be around and we both love spending time with you.
